Brooklyn once again failed to get their bats going as they dropped a must win game two 4-1 as they were swept in the New York/Penn League championship. The lone Cyclones’ run came on a solo homer by Micah Schilling in the first inning.
Michael Antonini had the tough start and he took the loss. He gave up all four runs on four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in six innings. All four runs off of him came on a pair of two run homers.
Things were looking pretty good for the Cyclones. Dillon Gee cruised through the first five innings and he gave up just four hits with eight strikeouts. When he left the game, Brooklyn was up 1-0. Then the roof caved in on them as Stephen Clyne was hammered for three runs and William Morgan was hammered for four runs as a pitcher’s duel turned into a blowout really quick.
Jacob Eigsti went two for three with a walk in the 7-1 loss. Will Vogl was the other Cyclone hitter with two hits.
Dylan Owen pitched the Cyclones into the New York/Penn League championship as the Cyclones swept the Yankees after a 3-1 win. Owen gave up four hits and he struck out seven in five shutout inning to pick up the win.
Lucas Duda went two for four with an RBI. Raul Reyes doubled, drove in a run and scored.
The Cyclones took a 1-0 lead in their best of three game playoff series with the Staten Island Yankees with a come from behind 8-4 win. Staten Island was up 4-2 but they scored two in the sixth to tie it and four in the ninth to win it. Lucas Duda went two for five with a homerun and four RBIs while Raul Reyes went three for four with a run and an RBI.
The pen really did a nice job in the win. Three relievers combined to throw five shutout innings and it was Stephen Clyne who picked up the win with two perfect innings.
