Zephyrs Face Tough Task After Game Two Loss

by @ 11:47 pm. Filed under Fernando Tatis, Carlos Muniz, Ryan Cullen, Dave Williams, New Orleans Zephyrs - September 2007

The Zephyrs blew it in the ninth inning as they dropped to a two game deficit in their serie with the River Cats for the PCL Championship.  Carlos Muniz was tagged for those two runs in the ninth inning but the game winner actually came with Ryan Cullen throwing so he shares some of the blame.  It’s too bad because a nice start by Dave Williams went to waste.  He gave up just one run in seven innings.

No Zephyr had no more then one hit while Fernando Tatis had the only extra base hit.  He doubled, drove in a run and scored.

Kevin Mulvey Throws Seven Shutout Innings to Help Push Zephyrs to PCL Finals

by @ 6:18 pm. Filed under Kevin Mulvey, Carlos Muniz, Jesus Feliciano, New Orleans Zephyrs - September 2007

Kevin Mulvey gave up just four hits and he struck out eight in seven shutout innings as the Zephyrs pulled off a 6-0 win that moved them to the PCL Finals.  Carlos Muniz was very solid in two shutout innings of relief to close the game out.  He didn’t allow a single baserunner and he struck out two.

Jesus Feliciano was the hitting star and he played a role in four of the Zephyr’s six runs.  He went three for four with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.

Binghamton Pitchers Give Up Nineteen Hits in Loss to Portland

by @ 11:00 pm. Filed under Binghamton Mets - April 2007, Nic Jackson, Carlos Muniz, Miguel Negron, Ryan Cullen, Mike Carp

I’m not sure what’s more shocking.  That Binghamton gave up nineteen hits or that they actually took this game into extra innings before losing it 10-7.  Anyway, Carlos Muniz gave up three runs in the top of the tenth as Portland escaped with the win.  Ryan Cullen had a particularly good relief outing.  He threw two shutout innings and he struck out four.

Mike Carp hit his first homerun of the season and he scored twice in the loss.  Nic Jackson and Miguel Negron each drove in two runs.

Binghamtom Tops Erie in Twelve Innings

by @ 11:32 pm. Filed under Binghamton Mets - April 2007, Fernando Martinez, Nic Jackson, Mie Nickeas, Carlos Muniz

Fernando Martinez hit a solo homerun in the eight inning to tie Binghamtom up with Erie and Nic Jackson doubled home Mike Nickeas in the bottom of the twelth to win it.  Martinez finished the game two for four with a triple, a homerun and two runs and he’s five for eight in the young season. Keep in mind that this kid is just 18 years old and he’s already mashing Double A pitching.

Carlos Muniz threw two shutout innings to close the game out and he picked up the win.  He struck out four and walked none.
