St. Lucie thought they were into the Florida State League finals but Joe Hietpas, with some help from Jose De La Torre, gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth that turned a 6-5 lead into a 7-6 loss.
Nick Evans doubled three times, scored and drove in a run. Daniel Murphy was a perfect two for two with three walks, two runs and two RBIs.
St. Lucie took care of Sarasota 7-5 with both teams scoring runs in the final frames. Daniel Murphy went three for five with a double and a run while Ambriox Concepcion went two for five with two RBIs to lead the way for the Mets.
Jose De La Torre gave up the tying run in the eighth inning but he held on and held the Reds scoreless in the ninth to pick up his fourth win of the season. Tobi Stoner had a rough start and he gave up four runs on ten hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Jonathan Niese fell to 7-5 on the season with a tough start in St. Lucie’s 8-7 loss to Tampa. He gave up five runs on ten hits and six walks in just five innings.
Daniel Murphy had a big day at the plate. He went two for three with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Sean Henry went two for five with a two run homer.
Four players had multihit games in St. Lucie’s 6-1 win over Fort Myers but only one had more then one RBI and that was Daniel Murphy. He went two for four with three RBIs and a run. Emmanuel Garcia had a nice game as well and he went four for five with two runs.
Jacob Ruckle gave up just one unearned run in five innings but he didn’t get a decision. The win went to Joe Hietpas, who gave up just one hit in two shutout innings.
St. Lucie lost 3-1 and the hitters never really got on track. Daniel Murphy had two of the Mets six hits and one of those two hits was a double.
A decent start by Eric Brown went to waste. He gave up three runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven innings.
St. Lucie won 10-7 and Dustin Martin was one of the hitters who kept Sarasota in the game. He went three for four with a triple, and RBI and three runs. Daniel Murphy had only one hit but it was a three run homer and he finished the game with four RBIs.
Oddly, Jacob Ruckle picked up the win despite having the toughest time on the mound. He gave up four runs in three innings and the win pushes his record to 4-3 on te season.
Pitching went out the windown in St. Lucie’s 12-11 loss to Lakeland in eleven innings. St. Lucie took a 10-1 lead into the seventh inning and the pitchers gave up nine runs in the final three frames, including four in the ninth, to send the game into extra frames. Then St. Lucie scored a run in the eleventh but gave up two in the bottom half of the inning to take the loss. Brandon Nall took the loss and he not only gave up the tying run in the ninth, but he also gave up the two runs in the eleventh.
There were plenty of hitting stars but Daniel Murphy was a notch above the rest. He went four for six with a double, three RBIs and two runs.
Daniel Murphy provided most of the offense in St. Lucie’s 3-2 win over Dunedin. He went one for one for three with a homerun and two RBIs. Joshua Petersen went three for four with a double.
Kevin Tomasiewicz picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief. He gave up two hits and he struck out one.
St. Lucie had plenty of hitting stars in their 11-3 win over Dunedin but Sean Henry led the way. He went three for six with two triples, four RBIs and a run. Daniel Murphy went two for six with two doubles and three RBIs.
Robert Parnall picked up the win with a nice start. He improved to 3-2 and he gave up one run on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Talk about an ugly game. The pitchers gave up 12 runs and the hitters picked up just four hit in the 12-0 loss. Daniel Murphy had the only extra base hit of the game with a double.
Jacob Ruckle took the loss and he dropped to 2-3. He gave up six runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
St. Lucie beat Clearwater 5-3 and St. Lucie Robert Parnell got it done on the mound. He gave up just two runs on five hits and three walks with ten strikeouts and the win improved his record to 2-2 on the season.
Dustin Martin doubled and he drove in two runs. Joshua Petersen scored two runs and Daniel Murphy hit a solo homerun.
Jonathan Niese got it done on the mound for St. Lucie in their 5-2 win. He gave up just one run on six hits and he struck out four.
Jamar Hill had a nice day at the plate. He went two for four with a run and an RBI. Daniel Murphy doubled and he scored two runs.
Deolis Guerra picked up his first win of the season with six shutout innings in his start. He gave up two hits and he struck out four and his record now stands at 1-2.
Daniel Murphy had a nice day at the plate in the 5-2 win. He went three for five with a double and three RBIs. Emmanuel Garcia and Jose Castro each finished with two runs.
