The Zephyrs blew it in the ninth inning as they dropped to a two game deficit in their serie with the River Cats for the PCL Championship. Carlos Muniz was tagged for those two runs in the ninth inning but the game winner actually came with Ryan Cullen throwing so he shares some of the blame. It’s too bad because a nice start by Dave Williams went to waste. He gave up just one run in seven innings.
No Zephyr had no more then one hit while Fernando Tatis had the only extra base hit. He doubled, drove in a run and scored.
The Zephyrs took a 1-0 lead in their series with the Sounds behind some solid pitching by Dave Williams and the bullpen as well as some timely hitting. Williams gave up one run in 6 1/3 innings while Ivan Maldonado got the final two outs and he picked up the win.
Robinson Cancel singled home David Newhan in the bottom of the ninth to break a 2-2 tie to win it. Fernando Tatis was the only Zephyrs hitter with more then one hit.
The Zephyrs had a tough time at the plate in their 3-1 loss to Omaha. Ben Johnson was really the only hitter who had a decent game and he went two for four with an RBI. David Newhan doubled and he scored New Orleans’ only run.
Dave Williams lost in his second rehab start. He gave up three runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
