Elvin Ramirez fell to 0-4 on the season after a rough start in Kingsport’s 5-3 win over Danville. He gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.
Michael Parker was the hitting star in the loss. He went three for five with an RBI.
Since Kingsport’s home opener was rained out, their first day of games turned into a doubleheader and unfortunately, they lost both. In the first game, Elizabethton destroyed Kingsport 15-1. Elvin Ramirez was shelled for seven runs in three innings and Richard Pena went two for three.
Game two was closer but a loss is a loss. Angel Calero was hit hard for six runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings. The big story was Marcos Tabata. He got ten batters out and nine of those were by strikeouts. He ended up giving up one hit and three walks in 3 1/3 innings. Daniel Stegall tripled, drew two walks and drove in three in the game.
