Kingsport rolled all over Bluefield 18-6 and it’s hard to believe that a guy who belted two homeruns wasn’t even the hitting star. Greg Veloz played a part in eight of Kingsport’s 18 runs and he went three for five with two doubles, one walk, four RBIs and four runs. Jeremy Hambrice went two for five with two homeruns and four RBIs.
All three Kingsport pitchers gave up runs but Jorge Rodriguez picked up the win. He gave up two runs on three hits and four walks with one strikeout in four innings.

In the second game, once again the Sand Gnats did just enough to pick up the win in a 5-4 win. Julio Polanco gave up one run and he struck out six in four solid innings. Greg Veloz went two for three with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.

The Sand Gnats lost 5-2 in a game where their offense never got going. The only reason they scored was because one of the five hits they picked up was a two run shot by Greg Veloz.
Tim Stronach had a mixed start. While he gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk, he did strike out seven so there’s something to build on there. The loss drops him to 2-4 on the season.
