St. Lucie Loses Second Playoff Game In Ninth Inning

St. Lucie thought they were into the Florida State League finals but Joe Hietpas, with some help from Jose De La Torre, gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth that turned a 6-5 lead into a 7-6 loss.

Nick Evans doubled three times, scored and drove in a run.  Daniel Murphy was a perfect two for two with three walks, two runs and two RBIs.

Daniel Murphy Has Three Hits In St. Lucie Win

St. Lucie took care of Sarasota 7-5 with both teams scoring runs in the final frames.  Daniel Murphy went three for five with a double and a run while Ambriox Concepcion went two for five with two RBIs to lead the way for the Mets.

Jose De La Torre gave up the tying run in the eighth inning but he held on and held the Reds scoreless in the ninth to pick up his fourth win of the season.  Tobi Stoner had a rough start and he gave up four runs on ten hits in 4 1/3 innings.

St. Lucie Comes From Behind to Beat Tampa

Dustin Martin doubled home a run in the seventh inning and then Ender Chavez singled home a run in the eighth to complete a comeback in St. Lucie’s 7-6 win over Tampa.  Martin finished with three hits and two RBIs while Nick Evans doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in two.

Tobi Stoner had a rough start and he gave up six runs in 4 2/3 innings but the bullpen and the hitters picked him up.  Jose De La Torre picked up the win and he threw two shutout innings of relief.

St. Lucie Pitching Hit Hard In Loss To Brevard County

Jose De La Torre had a rough start in St. Lucie’s 10-5 loss to Brevard County.  He gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts in five innings of work.  Each of the two relievers used also gave up at least two runs in the loss.

Ambiorix Concepcion went two for four with a run and an RBI.  Daniel Murphy doubled and drove in two runs.

St. Lucie Blows Lead in Loss to Brevard County

St. Lucie took a 5-4 lead into the eighth before Brevard County scored one in the eighth to tie it and then two in the ninth to win it.  Other then Jacob Ruckie, who threw two shutout innings, the pitching wasn’t all that great.  Jose De La Torre gave up four runs in five innings and Joseph Serfass gave up the two runs in the ninth to lose it.

Drew Butera was the hitting star.  He went two for three with two solo homeruns and three runs scored.

Corey Coles Drives in Three in St. Lucie Win

St. Lucie got plenty of hitting in their 9-1 win over Daytona.  Corey Coles doubled and drove in three runs while Dustin Martin went two for five with a homerun and he scored three runs. 

Jose De La Torre picked up his first win of the season with five shutout innings. He gave up just four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in the win.

St. Lucie Held to Four Hits in Shutout Loss

St. Lucie had a tough time at the plate in their 4-0 loss to Palm Beach.  Sean Henry was the only player who really got anything going and he finished two for three.

Jose De La Torre took the loss and he dropped to 0-2 on the season.  He gave up three runs on six hits with a strikeout in five innings of work.

St. Lucie Hammered 14-1 By Palm Beach

This was a beating.  Jose De La Torre got the start and he was shelled for four runs on seven hits and 2 1/3 innings.  Even worse, left hander Kevin Tomasiewicz was roughed up for seven runs in just 1 2/3 innings.

The lone Mets run came via the long ball.  Nick Evans hit a solo homerun in the ninth inning. It was his second of the season.
