The Sand Gnats lost two games in one day with pretty much a complete lack of offense in either game. In the first game, the Sand Gnats were shutout 5-0. Josh Stinson gave up five runs in five innings and he took the loss. Juan Lagares had two of the Sand Gnats five hits.
The Sand Gnats actually scored in the second game and the pitching was better. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. A nice start by Tim Stonrach went to waste in the 2-1 loss. He gave up one run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in seven solid innings. Josh Thole singled twice and he drove in the only run in either game for the Sand Gnats.
Francisco Pena had a great day at the plate in the Sand Gnats 9-5 win over Rome. He went two for three with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Josh Stinson picked up the win with a decent outing. He gave up four runs on four hits and a walk with one strikeout in seven innings. Three of the four hits he gave up were homeruns.
Seven different Sand Gnats picked up a hit apiece in their 2-0 loss to the Catfish. Leivi Ventura was the only Sand Gnat to reach base twice in the loss and he singled and drew a walk.
Josh Stinson dropped to 1-6 although he had a nice start. He gave up two runs on eight hits with two strikeouts in six innings.
The Sand Gnats played two and they finished with a split in their doubleheader with Kannapolis. Josh Stinson was hit hard in the 7-5 loss and he dropped to 1-5 on the season. Francisco Pena hit a solo homerun and Brahiam Maldonado went two for three with two doubles and a run.
Game two went better and the Sand Gnats won it 6-5. Maldonado went two for three with a run and two RBIs Jeremy Mizel picked up the win with 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
The Sand Gnats picked up four runs but unfortunately, Rome scored eight in Savannah’s seventh loss in eight games. Nelson Portillo gave up two runs in two innings of relief and he took the loss and Josh Stinson gave up three runs in four innings in his start.
Hector Pellot was the hitting star. He went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.
The Sand Gnats were shutout on just seven hits as they lost to the RiverDogs 4-0. Sean McCraw was the hitting star and he singled twice and drew a walk to reach base three times.
Josh Stinson took the loss. He gave up two runs on five hits and a walk with one strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
The Sand Gnats still haven’t won and today they were doubled up by Asheville. Joshua Stinson gave up three runs in four inning and Matthew Durkin was also knocked around for three runs in 3 1/3 innings.
At the plate, Leivi Ventura had three hits and Juan Lagares was also solid. He went two for four with a run and an RBI.
