Sand Gnats Doubled Up By Rome

The Sand Gnats lost to Rome 6-3 and it was Matt Durkin who took the loss.  He gave up six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings and the loss dropped him to 4-5 on the season.

D.J. Wabick provided most of the Sand Gnats offense with a two run homer in the fourth inning.  Brahiam Maldanado went two for three with a run.

Sand Gnats Edge Cat Fish 3-2

Matt Durkin improved to 4-3 on the season with a nice start in the Sand Gnats’ 3-2 win over the Cat Fish.  He gave up one run on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven quality innings.

D.J. Wabick was the hitting star in the win.  He went two for five with an RBI.

Matt Durkin Pitches Sand Gnats To Win Over RiverDogs

Matt Durkin improved to 2-2 on the season with a nice start in the Sand Gnats 3-2 win over the RiverDogs.  He gave up one run on three hits and four walks with six strikeouts in six innings.

Joe Holden was the hitting star in the win. He went three for three with a solo homerun.

Sand Gnats Lose to Columbus In Fourteen Innings

The Sand Gnats and Catfish combined for 27 hits but only five runs in a 3-2, fourteen inning pitchers duel.  Matt Durkin threw 6 2/3 solid innings in his start and Jeremy Mizell gave up the losing run and he dropped to 2-4 on the season.

Josh Thole was the hitting star.  He went three for six with a double, a run and an RBI.

Sand Gnats Lose to Rome In Eleven Innings

Jonathan Castillo gave up three hits and a run in the bottom of the eleventh as the Sand Gnats lost to Rome 3-2.  Matt Durkin gave up two runs on three hits and three walks with one strikeout in six innings.

Joe Holden went two for five with a double and a run in the loss.  Leivi Ventura went one for three with two walks and an RBI.

Sand Gnats Sweep Doubleheader Over Catfish

The Sand Gnats got some nice pitching in both games of their doubleheader against the Cat Fish.  In the first game, Matt Durkin threw a nice game and improved to 1-2 on the season.  He gave up one run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings of work.  Juan Lagares provided the offense in the 2-1 win with a two run homer.

In the second game, Greg Mullens improved to 3-1 with a nice start. He gave up one run on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings of work.  Josh Thole singled, drove in two and scored a run while Joe Holden went two for three with a run in the 4-1 win.

Sand Gnats Shut Down by RiverDogs

A nice start by Matt Durkin went to wast as the Sand Gnats lost to the RiverDogs 2-1.  He gave up just one unearned run on four hits and he struck out four in 5 2/3 innings. 

Daniel Stegall singled and he drove in the only run of the game.  Josh Thole doubled and he scored the lone run.

Joshua Stinson Hit Hard in Sand Gnats Second Straight Loss

The Sand Gnats still haven’t won and today they were doubled up by Asheville.  Joshua Stinson gave up three runs in four inning and Matthew Durkin was also knocked around for three runs in 3 1/3 innings.

At the plate, Leivi Ventura had three hits and Juan Lagares was also solid.  He went two for four with a run and an RBI.
