Nelson Portillo dropped to 2-6 on the season with another rough start in the Sand Gnats 6-5 loss to Rome. He gave up five runs on six hits and two walks with one strikeout in just one inning (he pitched into the second inning but didn’t get anyone out).
Brahiam Maldanado went two for four with a triple, an RBI and a run. Luis Rivera went three for four with a double and two RBIs.
Nelson Portillo gave up two runs in the eighth inning that proved to be the deciding run in the Sand Gnats 5-4 win over Rome. He fell to 0-4 on the season and both runs came off of solo homeruns.
Brahiam Maldanado had the big hit of the game for the Sand Gnats. His two run homer in the seventh gave the Sand Gnats the lead before Portillo gave it back up.
The Sand Gnats picked up four runs but unfortunately, Rome scored eight in Savannah’s seventh loss in eight games. Nelson Portillo gave up two runs in two innings of relief and he took the loss and Josh Stinson gave up three runs in four innings in his start.
Hector Pellot was the hitting star. He went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.
The Sand Gnats belted three homeruns, but unfortunately they still lost 5-4. Brahiam Maldonado hit a two run shot and D.J. Wabick and Hector Pellot each hit solo shots.
Nelson Portillo was roughed up and he took the loss in a relief appearance. He gave up three runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
Walks and errors killed the Sane Gnats tonight. Tobi Stoner escaped four innings with just one run despite walking four but Nelson Portillo wasn’t as lucky. He gave up five runs (just one earned) on three hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings.
Leivi Ventura and Brahiam Maldonado both went yard with solo shots and Maldonado scored twice in the 7-4 loss.
