Zephyrs Swept By River Cats In PCL Championship

by @ 11:11 pm. Filed under Jason Vargas, Fernando Tatis, New Orleans Zephyrs - September 2007

A eighth inning comeback attempt by the Zephyrs fell short in a 4-3 loss that ended New Orleans’ season with a three game sweep at the hands of the Sacramento River Cats.  The three eighth inning runs came on a three run blast by Fernando Tatis but it wasn’t enough.

Jason Vargas took the loss with a tough start.  He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in six innings.

Going on golf vacations can be quite relaxing. You don’t even have to worry about carrying golf carts or bringing your own golf clubs. All kinds of golf equipment can be arranged from the local sports shop. You can also enjoy a bit of basketball in between.

Zephyrs Face Tough Task After Game Two Loss

by @ 11:47 pm. Filed under Fernando Tatis, Carlos Muniz, Ryan Cullen, Dave Williams, New Orleans Zephyrs - September 2007

The Zephyrs blew it in the ninth inning as they dropped to a two game deficit in their serie with the River Cats for the PCL Championship.  Carlos Muniz was tagged for those two runs in the ninth inning but the game winner actually came with Ryan Cullen throwing so he shares some of the blame.  It’s too bad because a nice start by Dave Williams went to waste.  He gave up just one run in seven innings.

No Zephyr had no more then one hit while Fernando Tatis had the only extra base hit.  He doubled, drove in a run and scored.

by @ 11:20 pm. Filed under Ryan Cullen, David Newhan, New Orleans Zephyrs - September 2007

The Zephyrs dropped game one of the PCL championship to the River Cats 5-3 but buried in the loss was a terrific individual performance by David Newhan.  He went three for five and two of those hits went over the fence.  Unfortunately, there just wasn’t anyone on base.

Ryan Cullen picked up a hard luck loss.  He gave up just one run but it was unearned in 2/3 of an inning.
