Matt Durkin dropped to 4-6 on the season with a tough start in the Sand Gnats 12-4 loss to the RiverDogs. He gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four innings.
Brahiam Maldanado pretty much was the offense for the Sand Gnats in the loss. He went four for five with a double, a homerun and three RBIs.
The Sand Gnats had a tough time and scored a collective two runs in their pair of losses to the RiverDogs. In the first game, a nice start by Jeremy Mizell went to waste and he fell to 3-9 despite the effort. He gave up two runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. D.J. Wabick provided the lone run in the 2-1 loss with a solo homerun.
In the second game, the Sand Gnats once again got just the one run, once again off a solo homerun. Joe Holden provided the long ball and he finished the game two for four. Josh Stinson took the loss and he fell to 3-9 on the season. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks with one strikeout in 4 1/3 innings.
Nelson Portillo dropped to 2-6 on the season with another rough start in the Sand Gnats 6-5 loss to Rome. He gave up five runs on six hits and two walks with one strikeout in just one inning (he pitched into the second inning but didn’t get anyone out).
Brahiam Maldanado went two for four with a triple, an RBI and a run. Luis Rivera went three for four with a double and two RBIs.
Julio Polanco dropped to 1-5 on the season with a rough start in the Sand Gnats 7-4 loss to Rome. He gave up five runs on nine hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings of work.
D.J. Wabick went two for four with a double and two RBIs. Joe Holden went three for five with two runs.
The Sand Gnats lost to Rome 6-3 and it was Matt Durkin who took the loss. He gave up six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings and the loss dropped him to 4-5 on the season.
D.J. Wabick provided most of the Sand Gnats offense with a two run homer in the fourth inning. Brahiam Maldanado went two for three with a run.
