Things were looking pretty good for the Cyclones. Dillon Gee cruised through the first five innings and he gave up just four hits with eight strikeouts. When he left the game, Brooklyn was up 1-0. Then the roof caved in on them as Stephen Clyne was hammered for three runs and William Morgan was hammered for four runs as a pitcher’s duel turned into a blowout really quick.
Jacob Eigsti went two for three with a walk in the 7-1 loss. Will Vogl was the other Cyclone hitter with two hits.
The Cyclones took a 1-0 lead in their best of three game playoff series with the Staten Island Yankees with a come from behind 8-4 win. Staten Island was up 4-2 but they scored two in the sixth to tie it and four in the ninth to win it. Lucas Duda went two for five with a homerun and four RBIs while Raul Reyes went three for four with a run and an RBI.
The pen really did a nice job in the win. Three relievers combined to throw five shutout innings and it was Stephen Clyne who picked up the win with two perfect innings.
