Tobi Stoner didn’t nab his first win yet, but it wasn’t because of his performance on the mound. He gave one unearned run on just two hits and he struck out six in six solid innings. He set a season high for strikeouts and innings. Unfortunately, Todd Privitt wasn’t as good and he gave up four runs after Stoner left as the Sand Gnats lost it 5-3.
Josh Thole was the hitting star. He went two for four and he scored one of the runs.
The Sand Gnats got plenty of offense but the pitching wasn’t there in a 13-9 loss to Greenville. Hector Pellot went three for five with two runs and an RBI while Daniel Stegal went two for six with three runs. In all, six different Sand Gnats scored and three drove in at least two runs.
Todd Privett was shelled though, as were the two relievers who followed him. Privett gave up eight runs on eight hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.
I’m not sure why he was left in there for so long but Todd Privatt had an absolutely ugly box score in his start against Kannapolis. He gave up ten runs on fourteen hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three innings in the 10-4 loss.
Most of the Sand Gnats offense came on a three run homer by Leivi Ventura. Daniel Stegall, Juan Lagares and Hector Pellot each had two hits and a run.
